Calling all K-Drama fanatics! Have you been watching “The Divorce Insurance“? I was totally hooked from the first episode! It had everything, Lee Dong Wook’s charm, a fresh and quirky concept, and a cast that delivers top-tier performances. But then, I saw the ratings for episode two, and they dropped a bit. Naturally, I had to find out what’s going on!
So, let’s talk about this. Why did the K-Drama rating dip? Should we be worried? And more importantly, should we keep watching? (Spoiler: Yes!)
A Strong Start – The Drama Everyone Was Talking About
When “The Divorce Insurance” premiered, it made a solid first impression. The nationwide viewership rating hit 3.2%, and in Seoul, it peaked at 5.1%, impressive numbers for a new drama! It even took the top spot in its time slot.
Honestly, I wasn’t surprised. The concept of insuring marriages (yes, you read that right) is totally new, and with Lee Dong Wook, Lee Joo Bin, Lee Kwang Soo, and Lee Da Hee in the mix, it was bound to grab attention.
But then, episode two aired… and the ratings dipped.
Episode 2 Ratings Drop – What Happened?
The second episode saw a slight decline, 2.4% nationwide and 2.8% in Seoul. That’s about a 0.8% drop from the premiere. Nothing dramatic, but noticeable.
Before we panic, let’s be real: this happens all the time in K-Dramaland. Even the most successful dramas see dips in the early episodes before gaining momentum.
So, what could be the reason? A few things come to mind:
1. High Expectations
The first episode set the bar high, and maybe some viewers expected even more drama, comedy, or twists right away.
2. Other K-Dramas Competing
There’s always stiff competition. If another drama premiered around the same time, some viewers might have switched over to check it out.
3. Slow Build-Up
Some dramas take a little time to fully develop their characters and main storyline. Maybe episode two was more about setting things up rather than delivering big, flashy moments.
Is This a Bad Sign? Nope!
Honestly, a small ratings drop doesn’t mean the drama is failing. In fact, many K-Dramas start slow and then explode in popularity by the middle of the season.
There are still 10 episodes left, and I have a feeling this show is just getting started. The upcoming episodes will likely explore the emotional side of divorce insurance, dive into the characters’ backstories, and give us more of that perfect blend of humor and heart.
Should You Keep Watching? 100% YES!
If you loved the first episode, there’s no reason to stop now. Lee Dong Wook’s new drama is still one of the most interesting K-Dramas out right now, and the concept alone is worth sticking around for.
Plus, let’s be honest, ratings don’t always reflect how good a drama is. Some of my favorite K-Dramas had lower ratings at first but ended up being iconic!
Do you think the ratings will bounce back? Are you loving the drama so far?
